The [K.I.D.S] trend publication presents inspiration for younger fashion ranges for the Autumn 24/25 fashion season.  As well as the usual inspirational mood boards and downloadable, editable prints and graphics this issue also includes downloadable and editable CAD flats providing initial inspiration for range planning.

 

As with all our new format publications, you will find three trends each split into an older, younger, and key shape and print and graphic inspiration boards.  In this publication the key shapes are CAD illustrated fashion flats that are also downloadable and editable.  All trend boards are loaded with a huge amount more imagery than our original publication formats to fuel even more creative inspiration.  The boards now combine direction for all gender identities rather than splitting them up into traditional gender splits.

Ruff Cuts By George - Logo and Branding Development

As a designer I often take on branding projects outside of my fashion specialism.  Recently I designed this logo for Georgina Taylor who is establishing her own dog grooming business based in Wood Ditton, Cambridgeshire.  George wanted a simple logo with her own dog Peanut featuring in the logo design.  George had some of her own inspiration behind the logo which I developed into a bigger mood board to kick start the design process.  

I had great fun illustrating Peanut and playing around with font ideas to develop some initial logos based upon the above inspiration.

George chose her favourite logo from the above initial design development phase which I developed further into the below final logo.

I've been enjoying illustrating properties in my surrounding area as a bit of a hobby project recently.  On one of my dog walks the other day, I strolled past Rose Cottage which always catches my eye but particularly at present with its beautiful Roses it's names after coming into bloom.

Our NEW publications will be dropped quarterly split into Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter focus.  Each will present 3 trend stories split into the following boards:

• Older Focus - with colour palette
• Younger Focus - with colour palette
• Key shape and print and graphics focus.

Each board offers inspiration for both genders and unisex and are loaded with a huge amount more imagery than previous publications.  Inspiration for accessories and shoes are also included as well as swim in the spring and summer releases.

The KIDS Ltd Trend Publications are back

After a long hiatus, KIDS ltd trend publications are back.  As with a lot of fashion businesses, we pressed pause in March 2020 as lockdown gripped the world. Since then, we have been seriously evaluating what we should be offering as an accessible trend forecaster to our smaller brand and retail clients.  The fashion industry is evolving at an epic pace and the requirements from trend forecasts are no exception.  Instead of our two seasonal trend forecasts we will now be offering four forecasts a year: one for each season.  We are commencing with this quick drop summer 23 taster issue and will continue with an autumn drop in around three months’ time.  Each publication will now have three trends split into an older and younger forecast covering influences for boy, girl and unisex ages baby to teen.  We will also be offering a third board for each trend offering influences into print and graphic, upcycling, recycling and sustainability tips and seasonal direction.

I have been trying to find time to indulge in some of my own hobbies and recently created this Birdseye watercolour of our family farm.  We have had the farm in the family for over 100 years and are lucky enough to know a lot of the history including all the original field names.  While lots of the fields have been merged since our family took over the farming of Olmstead back in 1919, I laid out the field on the painting as they would have been back then.  I believe it is so important to record old field (and farm) names as sadly smaller family farms are swallowed by bigger estate farms and we loose all this history.  There's so much meaning behind each name from what grazed there to who farmed there once before.  I have added modern day ponds (re-dug or added to the farm in the past year too). 

I guess it's a creative illustration celebrating over a century of farming at Olmstead.  I am very happy to take of water colour commissions of the same nature - either of farms (I would need boundary maps, field names etc.. provided) or of villages and towns that are special to people.  Contact me for more information at emikiddy@googlemail.com for more information.

Posting has been a bit quiet around here these past few years.  I wonder if anyone even visits this quiet piece of the World Wide Web anymore?  I've been wondering if it's worth updating the blog anymore or if social medias such as Instagram and Pinterest do the job for me?  At the same I'm reluctant to entirely give up on it as I have such a huge archive of work here which I don't really want to abandon - decisions decisions...

For now I'm sharing some of my crafts that I have been creating in my spare time over the dark winter months.  Once fo them has been some felt decoration I have made to hang on a jubilee tree I intend to pop up to celebrate this years platinum jubilee celebrations later in June.  I've noticed there is already a lot of talk on the topic and some people already have flags up - so I though I would share these sooner rather than later.
