Brazil Trend - Spring/Summer 2014

Last year I posted a trend for Spring/Summer 2014 titled Carnival Brizileno.  The trend is inspired by all things Brazilian as the worlds eye focuses in on the country for the Football word cup and the forthcoming olympic games. There are already graphics in store that are starting to be inspired by this upcoming mega trend. Here are some of my top picks found in store this January.

Boys Licensed T-Shirts - Spring/Summer 2013

Following on with my recent shop report today I am sharing my top finds in character/licensed T-shirts.  I used to work in licensing designing licensed boys and girls wear for various high street names.  It's always challenging to take character art and make look new and on trend but it's an area that becomes more and more exciting with lots of new names offering licensed wear.

I love the Tom and Jerry Tees above by Monnalisa and it's great to see top designers getting in on the game too and making licensing really exciting.

Girls - Cats and Dogs Theme - Spring/Summer 2014

I have recently been doing an Autumn/Winter 2012 Shop Report to see what's in store this winter.  I have also been on the watch out to spot new and emerging trends in all the new Spring/Summer 2013 collections that are just starting to make an appearance in stores.

Boys Trend - Spring Summer 2014 - Imagination

Here is another trend for Spring/Summer 2014 titled

'Imagination'

Here is the Boy's version.

Imagination looks at how we interpret things from the past in our world today.  The graphics are inspired by how we want to give things we create today a nostalgic feeling/look similar to how we imagine we saw them through our childhoods eyes.

With apps like instagram we can transform an images we take today and give it this effect by applying an instant filter.  Its like looking at the world through rose tinted glasses.  Graphics in this trend will be created in the same way.

Living in a worldwide recession today where people find there are few prospects and are sceptical about the future we instead enjoy looking back at times when things seemed more positive and prosperous.  This is the feeling this trend wants to personify. 

For boys this trend looks at retro sports and sports wear.  It translates into an urban theme with graffiti print, hand drawn musical instrument and retro collegiate graphics.

Girls Trend - Spring Summer 2014 - Imagination

Here is another trend for Spring/Summer 2014 titled

'Imagination'
Here is the Girls version.

For girls this trend sees a soft feminine vintage pastel palette.  Delicate hand drawn vintage effect graphics build up the range.  Iconic technological icons of the eighties make an appearance in a fun and nostalgic way.

I personally love this trend and can't wait to get started on designing some prints under the theme!

Trend - Spring Summer 2014 - Carnival Brasileno

Here is the first trend I am introducing for Spring/Summer 2014 entitled 'Carnival Brasileno'.

Carnival Brasileno celebrates all things Latin American.  With the Olympics moving to Sao Paulo next, there's a lot of focus on Brazil and sports in particular.

Graphics will focus on AOP florals, Bright Surf Prints and Sports Inspired Placements.

Trend Update - Bird Focus - Spring/Summer 2014

Over the past month or so I have seen a huge amount of bird illustrations, collages, drawings, photographs (you name it!) trending on blogs, Pinterest, Etsy, clothing...  Literally everywhere I look for research a bird appears!  

I decided to do a trend focus on my 'bird' finds and share them here.  I have discovered some amazing new artists and blogs along the way which has been a real pleasure too.
